Redesign UI: Hex Color

Hello all,

I have updated Random Draw, Hex Color, and OhYeah. Be sure to check them out!

I essentially applied the UI design tips from Tuesday's post to these applications to enhance them. There is nothing new except actions bars, and neater design.

I will be sure to write more about future projects in tomorrow's post. Including an app that will try to replace the external stereo. Stay tuned.

Happy coding,
Mike

First UI Remake: Phinder

Hello all,

This begins my series on remaking my user interfaces for my applications. Today, I will be doing my most popular app, Phinder. If you recall, this app is used to locally find the user's lost Android device. The reason I am redesigning my UIs is because users love a great UI and hate a poorly done UI. Can you guess which end my UIs are on? Hence, the need to redesign.
First, I will go with more conserved colors. I am thinking a #22272D for my background. I will then go with the white text to provide a nice complement to my background. Moving on the buttons, I will use this background for my android background:  android:background="?android:attr/selectableItemBackground" creating a nice and modern button effect. Now I will just resize everything to make the UI look practical.
The app icon also needs to be spruced up a bit to provide a sense of change and whatnot. So I change it to match my color scheme.

The next thing we need to do is to add an actionbar. Actionbars are common place in almost every popular app. This website gave me everything I needed: http://www.androidhive.info/2013/11/android-working-with-action-bar/

And with that I am done updating my UI! You can get the app here:

For now, that is all.

Happy Coding,
Mike

The Reconstruction

Hello all,

I did not post anything last week. I am greatly sorry. Things have been getting busy. However, I am ready to start anew this time with redesigning my apps! That's right, we are throwing out the old, and ugly UI of ALL of my  apps and replacing them with modern UI. Stay tuned for posts.

Happy coding,
Mike

Convert to Chrome!!!!

Hello all,

I have recently found an amazing service called ARC. ARC allows Android developers, like me, to take Android Application Packages (APKs) and convert them to a zip folder. This folder can then be uploaded to the Chrome Web Store and would then be available to all Chrome users and all who own a Chromebook. If any of you have any APKs from previous projects, I would highly recommend using ARC to reach millions of more individuals. This takes less than 15 min and can really be worth it!

I will start this week's app, called Daily Success, off tomorrow with my return.

Happy Coding,
Mike

12 Days Later...

Hello all,

I have been quite busy making one app: Defining. Since I have been concentrating my full effort towards this one app, I unfortunately was not able to complete the 12 that I anticipated. However, out of failure, births great success. I was able to launch an advanced app that is well-deserved of my effort. Introducing: Defining.

Defining is an app that uses image processing to get the text from the camera feed. This then is fed into a hashmap where the definition is then displayed.

The source code will be ready soon. The app is still in progress because of all the words that are constantly being needed to add.

For the next week I will be publishing apps that I have been working on.

Happy Coding,
Mike

Button Duel Day 7...kinda

Hello all,

I did not manage to get much progress done on Dutton Duel because I have been concentrating a lot of my time towards database programming. However, in the next two days, I hope to spend all of my free time finishing Button Duel so it can be released on Christmas Eve.

Happy Coding,
Mike
